Especially if it requires the construction of a parking garage structure nearby, like Century mall did? I enjoy density, but this seems to be more of a forced form than something organically required by the circumstance. Smaller, one or two story, street accessible, retail seem more appropriate in a lot of these locations.Isaachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00874328760407295804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10923291.post-5966324879817999502009-06-02T15:19:12.787-05:002009-06-02T15:19:12.787-05:00I believe the canyon-like vertical design of Chica...I believe the canyon-like vertical design of Chicago Place was its first and biggest flaw. I never enjoyed entering the huge automatic revolving door, being introduced into a space monopolized by Sunglass Hut, then ride endless escalators to find a Class B store I want to go to. The comparison to Century Mall is right on… another vertical space that is not user-friendly. I just wish the new Ritz-Carlson residences were constructed at the Chicago Place site instead of demolishing a “protected” building… that’s another topic….Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10923291.post-36773667084999470052009-06-02T10:50:31.858-05:002009-06-02T10:50:31.858-05:00Chicago Place suffered from following popular, tem...Chicago Place suffered from following popular, temporal design trends from 1990 and never updating its look.Erik Maldrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16069445625382113969noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10923291.post-60938699533579854112009-06-01T23:58:16.355-05:002009-06-01T23:58:16.355-05:00I always liked Chicago Place's architecture.
