Seeing MacStars in Chicago's Grant Park

Is a franchised Hollywood-style Walk of Fame just the ticket for an underutilized portion of Chicago's Grant Park? Read all about it here.

I HATE this idea. Why not take the same concept and even the same area of the park, mix it with the proven popularity of the modern art in Millennium Park, and have fine artists (and hey, maybe even a local artist) embed something more interesting and original into the sidewalks? You can even hit up the same donors you would have for the ‘Hollywood Walk’; they could be accredited on each piece. I know…this is radical thinking…

I mean, we gave our local heroes all there own pumpkins this year – what more could they ask for?

I also hate this idea. More selling of public space. More junkification. And wholly unoriginal. Plus, it plays to the notion that those with clout (and money) get to see themselves "honored." Shame. Shame. Shame. Also, who gives this guy Bob O'Neill the authority to sell off Grant Park and opine on everything to do with Michigan Avenue? Time to gag him.
