Less than a week after it was withheld from a packed public meeting, Santiago Calatrava's latest design for the 2,000-foot-high Chicago Spire is unveiled by Chicago Tribune Architecture critic Blair Kamin. Read all about it - and see the pictures -
here.
Seems like the design just wasnt ready yet. Pity the poor architect, under pressure by the media and developer to prepare a new design for an extremely complex building, in his hotel room at 3 AM.
ReplyDeleteWE WANT IT RIGHT NOW! AND IT BETTER BE A MASTERPIECE, OR WE WILL CHEW YOU UP IN PUBLIC!
Yikes.
Calatrava will be ok. A few abstract watercolor squiggles is all it takes to get Kamin to fawn all over you if you're a celebrity. I don't think he was up until 3 am.
ReplyDeleteWell, it certainly does look better and less clumsy than the December edition.
ReplyDeleteLet's get it built! Yay!
Please build this already! I prefer the design from december. Just one additional thing, add the spire and make it the tallest building in the world! Including the burj dubai, i'm tired of hearing about that building of how it's going to be the tallest simply for that reason alone!!!
