(Normally, you try not to call attention to those strips of metallic slots marking a mechanical floor slicing through an otherwise continuous wrapper of curtain wall.)

And so it begins, the Trumpification*
of his otherwise elegant building.
*Trumpification: to turn something elegant into something ghastly.
Oh oh dear. I can't stand logos on skyscrapers. This is Chicago. Not the suburbs. We don't put logos or names on buildings. We let the architecture stand for itself. Our architecture doesn't need nametags as the bland buildings of the suburbs try to identify themselves.
What a hideous mess. Plus he puts his name on the side of the building that is the ugliest angle. The super-wide parking lot. Will it ultimately say TRUMP PARKING $30/DAY.
T for TERRIBLE
Who approved this, and why? This sign
is completely unnecessary. Captain comb-over has some explaining to do.
Tacky Trump strikes again.
not only is the serif font hideously inappropriate, but it appears the spacing is centering the logo on the mass below, while completely ignoring the setbacks of the soaring tower above...
ugh.
let's all BOYCOTT please...
The residents of the condos above should have put a stop to this nonsense. Those letters look cheap, I
can't wait to see those letters illuminated.
Just the T there reminds me of when a Trump Casino billboard was being painted on some downtown building, and for a day there was just the Donald's hair, carefully three-dimensional and instantly recognizable, above an abstract flesh-colored blob where the face would soon be painted. David Salle never did anything half as good.
Overscaled and garish. T R U so far,
M P coming soon!
