Chicago Streetscene - Veined Spiral

Why oh why can't someone bend the developer/architect's ear to get them to continue the elegant lighting scheme on the garage floors? Juxtapose the lovely spiral garage ramp next to the Houston-sized parking garage in glass that the Tower looks like from the River side, complete with Sodium-Mercury vapor stadium lighting. It's the visual equivalent of drinking root beer with filet mignon.

Is frosted glass and flourescent tubing really too much of an expense for a building of this calibre?

I like root beer with just about anything. I agree about the lighting, though.

Why is no one else excited to see cars driving around the inside of a building? They did that frosted glass thing at the Hancock and it looks like crap. I just hope they have the sense to park all of the silver Bently's and lime green lamborghini's on the side facing the river. Look at the Marina Towers--it is the garage that absolutely makes the building. Cars are actually really pretty when you don't try to hide them with aesthetic gratings and materials that quickly get dirty from car fumes. All though I will agress that Sodium-Mercury lighting comes straight from the pit of hell.

Tatlin's Tower, anyone?
