In each city local architectural and urban historians, preservationists, and former participants of the movement will help us to understand the monuments and landscapes that we see and to recall those that are no longer available to see.The tour will be led by Dell Upton, Chair of the Art History Department at UCLA. September 8th deadline for registering for Civil Rights Movement architectural tour
October 8 through the 12, the Society of Architectural Historians is offering a four day study tour of civil rights movement memorials in Alabama and Georgia. Included will be the Atlanta homes of Martin Luther King, Jr., Ebenezer Baptist Church, then on to the Tuskegee Institute, and other historical sites in Montgomery and Selma.
